background
Professor Ursula Tischner studied architecture and industrial design in Aachen and Wuppertal. From 1992 to 1996 she worked at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy in the field of ecology and design. Later she founded Econcept, a design and consulting agency in Cologne, specializing in ecodesign.
Since 1998, she has been responsible for the annual course in Ecological Design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Zurich (Department of Industrial Design). In September 2002, she was appointed Lecturer in Sustainable Design at the Design Academy, Eindhoven. Ursula is the author of several books on ecodesign and sustainability.
EcoDesign lab discussions
Style based on New Requirements
At the VOLVO SportsDesign Forum, Tischner will be the host and moderator of the entire EcoDesign Lab. In order to develop the concept for this interactive workshop and live product development, she has brought together all her know-how and has chosen interdisciplinary experts such as scientist Peter Waeber from Bluesign(r) and fashion designer Dr. Ali Ansari from the AMD Fashion Design School.
Tischner’s idea is to develop sports apparel live on stage with two independent design teams. Each design team consists of four students from the AMD Fashion Design School. The first group receives the design brief based on common standards, while the second group receives additional ecodesign information and material analysis. The product design will be carried out in its different stages including sketching, material selection, concept selection, cutting process, sewing, prototyping, evaluation and comparison.
Volvo and ispo are looking forward to an exciting live event and thank Prof. Tischner for her great conceptual ideas.
