background

Dr. Ali Ansari is a true cosmopolitan. He started his fashion career in Tehran were he launched his own label and found international recognition. He was hired to create the style of JOOP! Womenswear where he became chief designer.

At the turn of the millennium, Ansari’s emphasis turned to a new field when he became lecturer at AMD Germany, one of Europe's leading fashion schools for Design, Product Management and Journalism. In 2007, he was appointed CEO of the entire group. In his rare spare time Ansari is a jury member and consultant for the international fashion weeks in Berlin, London, Munich and St. Petersburg.

EcoDesign lab discussions

Style based on New Requirements

Every day, Ansari is searching. The search is for creativity and new trends in fashion design. He challenges his 500 students at the AMD Design School. In the past, his goal was to create new styles and enable product managers to design and market. But the market has changed and so have the contents of his design briefings. This is exactly what all the participants of the Volvo SportsDesign Forum can experience live on stage at the EcoDesign Lab.

Ansari doesn’t like compromises: "Ecodesign never just has to look eco, after all we talk about design which is the major image in our streets, in our sports activities or in our leisure time. Here I can’t accept lower standards only because we cannot find the right eco materials. In addition, we have seen that the more our students know about the eco-friendliness of materials and the better their understanding of different finishing is, the more focused the creative selection will be."

"In the material pre-selection during January, we heard interesting discussions with ecodesign expert Ursula Tischner and Scientist Peter Weber. We feel our common search will lead our AMD students who graduate in sportswear design to go to the next level."
