Timberland
Boulder Life Factur Lace
design: Timberland Design Team
retail price: $70
product description
Timberland is working to minimize its impact on the environment by utilizing more renewable energy, more recycled and renewable materials, less waste and less chemicals.
The company recently introduced its industry-leading “Green Index™” rating hangtag, which provides product-specific ratings for select environmental factors — including climate impact, chemicals and materials used. An industry first, this rating system provides consumers with better visibility and more transparency regarding the specific aspects of the footprint the business creates.
The Green Index™ operates on a scale from 0 to 10; the lower the rating, the lower the environmental impact a product has.
The Timberland Boulder Life Factur is part of the new “b-life collective,” a line of footwear and apparel inspired by the intersection of art, action and athletes. The Boulder Life Factur is designed to transition from bouldering to the city streets.
The men’s Timberland Boulder Life Factur Lace is constructed with a lining made with 67% bamboo viscose and 100% recycled PET components, while some patterns have a 55% hemp upper and a Timberland Street Stick rubber.
The Boulder Life Factur has a Green Index™ rating of 4.5. The shoes come in a box featuring another industry first: the “Our Footprint” nutrition-label, which tells consumers where the shoes were made and provides Timberland corporate information about energy consumption, detailing aspects of the company’s environmental and community impact.
