design: Brian Law

product description

Brian Law, a student of the National University of Singapore, attributes his work to the following: Ecological research in sports activities shows that sportsmen and women discard thousands of polyethylene plastic bags every year after using them as ice-pack coolers to cool down their muscles after exercising.

This poses a great environmental problem as only 1% of plastic bags are recycled worldwide. Snowsoft, an on-the-field ankle cooling gel pack, aims to tackle this problem by adopting eco-design strategy in its material usage, production techniques, distribution methods and design approach.
The same non-petroleum-based Japanese neoprene is used throughout. This material requires less energy to produce and is easy to recycle. The material strategy: use cleaner materials and recyclable materials. Simple manual production and alternative techniques consume less energy. The tools and equipment used in this production method are biodegradable and do not produce hazardous waste.

This economic and sustainable on-the-field approach is far more effective than various cooling devices that are meant for off-the-field therapy treatment.
