Women´s Powder Bowl Jacket and Pants
design: Maria Preteur
retail price: 350/300 Euro
product description
Patagonia’s philosophy — as well as their definition of quality — is based on a drive to build the best product, have the least impact on the environment and use business to inspire solutions to the global environmental crisis. Today, the company is evaluating raw materials, investing in innovative technologies, rigorously policing its waste and supporting groups working to make a real difference for the environment.
Since 1985, Patagonia dedicates 1% of its sales to environmental organizations, that is about 2.6 million USD per year and in 2001 co-founded the 1% for the planet club that gathers other companies also giving 1% of their sales to environment protection.
In Fall 2005, Patagonia launched the Common Threads Recycling Program using worn-out Capilene performance base layers. In Fall 2006, they extended the program to include all Polartec-branded polyester fleece and their organic cotton t-shirts and in Spring 08 to some hard and soft shells. This program will be largely expanded for Fall 08 to reach 53% of its range that will be recyclable.
Patagonia is bluesign technologies certified. The bluesign standard is an independent international quality guarantee focusing on environmental, health and safety standards.
The nominated outerwear for women, "Powder Bowl Jacket and pants" is made of 100% polyester, of which 100% is recycled. The whole garment is recyclable, and audits have shown that the polyester recycling process saves 80% energy and 80% CO2 emissions in comparison to virgin fibers.
