Nike ACG
Lava Dome CI
design: Mike Aveni
retail price: 100 Euro
product description
With the Lava Dome CI, Nike has created a style using their best sustainable footwear practices — an integrated design, development, materials sourcing and manufacturing process approach to reduce their environmental footprint. Specifically for this product, Nike used its innovative CI construction method to attach the sole unit of the shoe to the upper, thereby minimizing the use of cement and chemicals normally affiliated with the footwear manufacturing process. The midsole and outsole snap together using a mechanical interface, which is then woven directly to the upper. This allows production to use significantly less primer and cement.
The shoe contains a recycled rubber outsole, recycled content midsole, recycled content lacing and recycled content lining. The recycling centre can easily disassemble the shoe and process each component. In addition, all materials are sourced within 50 miles of the manufacturer.
