Dynafit
Manaslu with Low Tech Race
design: Fritz Barthel, Herwig Halun
retail price: 549 / 599 Euro
product description
The German brand Dynafit is nominated for the advanced binding concept in its Low Tech Race product and its Free Touring FT Manaslu touring race ski.
The Low Tech Race is the lightest binding available in the world, with only 160 grams of resources used in the production process. Only a minor part is plastic; the other materials are titanium and aluminium, which produce almost no toxic gases during the production and can be recycled by being melted. The predicted lifetime of the product is a minimum of five years, much longer than an average touring binding made of nearly 100% plastic. Furthermore, the production process does not expose employees to excess noise or toxic surroundings.
In developing the Free Touring FT Manaslu touring race ski, Dynafit used as much wood as possible to reduce the use of synthetics. By using a renewable resource such as wood, they tried to find a synthesis between high-tech material and nature.
Furthermore, Dynafit supports the Snow Leopard Trust in its efforts to save the rare breed from extinction. As a symbol of Dynafit’s commitment to reduce its environmental footprint, the snow leopard stands as the company logo.
