Body Glove
Eco Fullsuit and PFD
design: Matt Walls
retail price: 269,95 / 129,95 Euro
product description
The Body Glove ECO fullsuit is the ecological innovation in wetsuit design from the Body Glove team. The fullsuit is the most environmentally friendly wetsuit on the market.
Traditional wetsuits are made from neoprene, a petroleum-based material. The Body Glove fullsuit is made with Body Glove BIO-Stretch rubber and ECO-flex. The ECO BIO-Stretch and ECO-Flex have the same thermal insulating qualities as neoprene without the harsh environmental side effects. The combination of these two materials is the purest known form of non-toxic stretch material.
Making the Body Glove ECO wetsuit takes one tenth of the energy needed to produce of a traditional neoprene suit. The factory uses hydroelectric power created from melting snow to convert the raw material to rubber. A local eel nursery reuses the vapour waste.
BIO-Stretch is a non-petroleum-based stretch rubber made from calcium carbonate and closed cell foam rubber, providing maximum elasticity. Also non-petroleum-based, the ECO-Flex stretch exterior is produced from corn. The dye is water-based, and the key zipper is made from recycled plastic. While the suit’s average lifespan for wear is equal to or better than that of traditional wetsuits, Body Glove ECO fullsuit's Bio-Stretch and ECO-Flex materials are biodegradable.
